Ian Merrick

Ian�s career has spanned more than 35 years on the cutting edge of independent movie writing, producing, and directing, both in the UK and US. This includes his controversial first feature and award winning �The Black Panther� which he produced and directed in the UK. Then time as Resident Director at Zoetrope Studios in San Francisco, "The Godfather," �Apocalypse Now� and director in charge of special projects at Hemdale LA, �Terminator" �Platoon� all Academy Awarded. Amongst others, Ian notably developed the original concept at Zoetrope for "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial� and also wrote the original concept and first draft screenplay, that became "Flashdance" Both uncredited by arrangement.

During his career Ian has won many awards including and which he is most covetous of, the Cannes Festival Most Promising Director Award. The "Eagle Award" Best Director, Ontario Film Festival and the "Visionary Spirit Award", Sacramento Film Festival. Indeed through Ian�s creative activities and associations, he has caused directly and indirectly, many successes for the film industry
